Things That Could Go Wrong With Your Air Conditioner

A Ford AC system not cooling enough could have several possible causes. Some of these could easily be determined and fixed while some need the help of trained professionals, such as when dealing with troubles in the Ford AC Condenser.

Back in the days, most Ford autos sold only came with the essentials and no extra features like the air conditioning unit. With the advent of technology and the increased demand for passenger convenience features, they started adding these features, such as in the Mustang—a cool car that’s made even cooler with the AC on.

But sometimes things could go wrong with your air conditioner and it suddenly does not provide enough cooling. There are several things that could be the cause. One reason for inadequate cooling is a dirty condenser. The Ford Mustang AC Condenser acts as the heat exchanger of the forefront of the radiator. Its task is to cool the pressurized refrigerant coming out of the compressor. If this part is packed with leaves or even bugs, less air would flow through the unit lessening the cooling ability of the condenser. Simple cleaning the exterior of the unit would fix the problem.

Another reason could be a low level of refrigerant. A unit needs a certain amount of refrigerant for it to produce the performance expected from it. A leak in the system, such as in the Ford AC Condenser or along one of the hoses, can be the reason for a low level of refrigerant. Have an expert check the system for any leak. If there is none, then it is a matter having the refrigerant topped up.

Great care should be done during recharging of refrigerant. The refrigerant inside the system should be pure. Any form of contamination could greatly reduce its cooling power. Air or moisture could contaminate the system as well as it could when the there are leaks. Failure to evacuate the system first could allow these contaminants to enter prior to adding the refrigerant. Air in the system dilutes the refrigerant while moisture could freeze in it and cause an obstruction.

Just like with frozen moisture inside the system, any form of debris could block the passageways. This means the refrigerant cannot do what it is supposed to do which is to circulate through the system freely. Apart from blocking the passage of refrigerant, debris could also damage the Ford AC Condenser and other components like the compressor.

If it is neither the refrigerant level nor a trouble in the Ford AC Condenser, you could be dealing with a mechanical problem. This includes a compressor clutch not engaging or slipping. But in any case, it is better to leave it to the professionals to take care of as they have the tools and the knowledge in restoring the topnotch coolness of the Mustang interior.
